Each year the Fair Housing Center of West Michigan hosts an annual conference to celebrate "Fair Housing Month" and highlight important issues of housing opportunity by featuring nationally known speakers with content-rich workshops on a wide variety of fair housing topics, leading into a keynote luncheon presentation.

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE - PEARL STREET
Pearl Street in front of the Amway Hotel motor lobby/valet area is under construction.  During construction, the road will be closed to through traffic and local access will be maintained to the extent possible. Detours will be clearly marked and are depicted on the map at right.  The westbound detour will utilize Ottawa, Fulton, Mt. Vernon, and Front. The eastbound detour will utilize Scribner, Bridge/Michigan, Monroe, Lyon, and Ottawa.  Driving Directions (including road closures).

 

Parking:
Self-parking is available in the Amway Grand Parking Ramp (located on the corner of Pearl Street and Monroe Avenue); with entrances on Campau and Pearl Streets.  You may want to use the Campau entrance to avoid the contstruction on Pearl. The main lobby and valet services will be accessible through construction.  Learn more about nearby parking ramps, street/free parking, and municipal parking options.

Schedule:
Conference check-in begins at 8:15 a.m., with the serving of a light continental breakfast.  Workshops begin promptly at 8:45 a.m.  Luncheon check-in begins at 11:40 a.m. The keynote luncheon will follow the workshops, beginning at 12 noon and lasting until 1:30 pm.

Special Performance: 
This year's luncheon will feature a special guest poetry performance by Rachel Gleason of The Diatribe in Grand Rapids.  Ms. Gleason is a poet and musician from west Michigan and has been a member of The Diatribe, a spoken word collective non-profit, since 2013.  The FHCWM is excited to have Ms. Gleason perform at the event and invite all those interested to learn more about her work here!

If you are traveling and need lodging for the night prior, downtown Grand Rapids offers several different hotel options: Amway Grand Plaza, J.W. Marriot, Courtyard Marriot, Holiday Inn, City Flats Hotel, Homewood Suites.  Call our office if you have questions about hotels outside of the downtown area.
